With Monday Night Raw overseas in Manchester, England this week, it appears as though the WWE Universe is in for quite the treat. It has been formally announced that Elias and Jason Jordan will in fact be extending their ongoing rivalry in a “Guitar-On-A-Pole Match.”
“The contest, which can only be won when a superstar retrieves the guitar and uses it on his opponent, promises to leave one of these competitors singing the blues,” reads WWE’s official announcement regarding the matter.
As the latest installment of Monday Night Raw will see the most recent occurrence in the back-and-forth between the two middle-of-the-card superstars, Elias and Jordan have been going it at for weeks while Monday’s match could ultimately lead to a Survivor Series culmination. While such a rivalry initially featured hysterical promos with Jordan infamously pelting Elias with all sorts of vegetables during one of his weekly musical performances, the storyline has since turned quite physical — especially over the course of the last two weeks.
Just two weeks ago, Elias began the onslaught by breaking one of his guitars over the shoulder of Jordan, which concluded the matchup via disqualification. Although Elias originally managed to get the last laugh, Jordan would waste absolutely no time as his eventual rebuttal would come only one week later. With Elias helplessly looking on from outside the ring on last week’s episode of Raw, Jordan was seen stomping his foot through another guitar, which seemed to be the last straw as the folks at the Manchester Arena will now be treated to quite the special match.
Despite the fact that these two superstars have already encountered one another in a pay-per-view bout back at Tables, Ladders and Chairs, a win for Jordan, the WWE Universe should remain excited that this tandem of up-and-comers has continued to press on in the limelight. While of course the likes of Dean Ambrose, Kurt Angle, Seth Rollins, The Miz and others have been carrying the majority of the workload as of late, both Elias and Jordan have done their part to keep the middle portion of each show supremely entertaining — not to mention that the duo also brings some tremendous in-ring ability to the table.
Be sure to tune in on Monday evening to witness what will almost certainly become one of the more memorable matches of the month, if not the year.
