Report | Nia Jax takes leave of absence from WWE

It was a bit of a surprise to not see Nia Jax on this past edition of Monday Night Raw, seeing how important she was to the story between Alexa Bliss and Mickie James. We may now know why she was absent from the show.

WWE has granted Nia Jax a personal leave of absence, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin. The absence is for an undisclosed period of time.

The leave of absence comes at a time when the company is dealing with another superstar, Neville, who walked out and could potentially be on his way out of WWE.

Jax had been a major player in the Raw women’s division since her call-up from NXT just over a year ago, always hovering around the women’s title and more specifically, Bliss.

While she hadn’t yet held the gold, Jax was being treated as an important member of the Raw roster. She was being protected in a lot of the big matches, with the long-term goal always feeling as if Jax was getting close to that title victory.

After attacking Bliss on the August 28 edition of Raw, it seemed as though Jax would be earmarked for a title run. Ultimately that didn’t happen, and the WWE’s way of keeping Jax in the picture was to put her back alongside Bliss. The last time we saw Jax wrestle was on Oct. 2, when she lost to James via a DDT.

Jax was just beginning to enter the fray as a major competitor in the women’s division, but now it seems like Jax will be off television for the foreseeable future.
